June's Obsessions!

Whew! May flew by!  I can hardly even believe it’s June already!! But, that means it’s time for this month’s obsessions list! Knowing we get to show off what we’re lovin’ these days makes our “obsessions” lists grow miiiiiighty quickly (we even had to narrow it down this month)!
So here we go:

1. Lulie Wallace.
An artist out of Charleston, South Carolina that makes note cards, fabric, totes, lunchboxes, pillows , duffles, scarves and, of course, original artwork. Angie loved her work so much she bought herself one! Here’s a snap of hers!

2. These fab hex stools!
I found these on Pinterest and was like "ahhhhhhhh!!!" Need. Want. Must have.
They are made by WoodSmithe Design Company.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find out where to buy them, only who makes them…so, stay tuned!

3. Garden Chinoiserie Mural
This dreamy thing is by Vousta and is sold at Anthropolie.
(The pattern also comes in a quilt AND pillows! See below!)
I'll take it all, please.

4. Patriarch, Prosperity Post Mount
Found at The Classic Light Company, you can get it in all different color combinations!
Don’t be surprised if you see this in front of Angie’s house in the future!

5. Chords Designs Lamps
Local artist and personal friend of mine, Anna Gleason, owner of Chords Designs, specializes in musically inspired creations! Normally in the jewelry business, Anna also dabbles in lamp making---all out of old instruments! You can find samples of her work at The AgoraBorealis on Lake Street in Shreveport (along with a ton of other cool local art)!

6. Spoonflower
If you haven’t heard of spoonflower, get to Googlin’. Spoonflower.com is a site that has tons---MILLIONS of different patterns that can be printed as wallpaper, fabric or gift wrap. They have traditional. They have quirky and they have everything in between. Want florals, donuts, arrows or narwhals? You search it, they’ll have it!
The even cooler part? You can even design your own! Sayyyy maybe you want wallpaper with my face on it? Boom. Upload it, order it and it’s yours!

I personally want wallpaper with Angie’s face all over it. Don’t worry, I’ll post a picture to Instagram once it comes in!
***Disclaimer: If you start seeing blog posts with a different persons signature on the bottom of them from now on, that most likely means I got fired for posting this.
7. BONUS! This adorable watercolor dachshund pillow!
Angie, her daughter and I are all big weiner dog lovers and this is just too cute! You can find the dachshund and other cool designs on Etsy!

The #shiplap craze is REAL!

If you’ve been paying attention in the design/remodeling world lately, (especially HGTV’s Fixer Uppers) then you’ve probably heard of shiplap. The shiplap craze is REAL right now. Contrary to what some may think, “Chip & JoJo” did not invent #shiplap, they're simply just showing it off to the world! “Shiplap” paneling has been around for over a hundred years!

Historically used in areas with harsh climates, shiplap is characterized by long horizontal or vertical wood panels. Today, shiplap is very transitional---capable of giving a home a rustic feel, but could also easily fit into a very modern home. Whether you install or uncover (or even accidentally discover) your shiplap, it can be left its natural color or looks great painted!

Interior, exterior, ceiling, wall, accent, living room, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom—shiplap can fit in just about any space imaginable!

The Red River Remodelers team is no exception to this love of shiplap. We have touches of shiplap in our own homes (and in our office, too)! Now don’t get it twisted, there is a time and a place (and amount) for certain design elements, and this is no exception.…we are definitely not saying you should go putting shiplap paneling on every square inch of every wall in EVERRRYYYY room of your house, by any means! We have had several clients who have requested this “shiplap chic” look recently, so we wanted to show you a few of our favorite rooms, uses and styles that incorporate this look!

And here are a few iPhone snaps of different ways we have personally used shiplap!
